Video Games Channel Highlights

Well, the weekend is fast approaching, and you know what that means? More time to play video games! Or well … that’s what it means for me anyway. But in the meantime, while you’re procrastinating on work (at work…) or at home, here’s some highlights from the Video Games channel to keep you entertained.

The Game Developers Conference has been in full swing this week in NY and Kris of Games Industry Wire brings you the list of winners in each category. Anyone else shocked by Gears of War winning in several categories? Not I. Just relieved that Paris Hilton’s cellphone game was nowhere to be found. Kris also talks about some additional capabilities Sony is adding to the PS3.

Over at Ironic Gamer, Patrick has evidence that Link might enjoy wearing high heels on occasion. I never realize he had such nice legs. But if you prefer your high heels on … well, women… Patrick also brings you a nice look at Lara Croft China. And if you’re feeling a bit musical today, how about some Mario a capella?

Patrick also has some nifty toys over at Play Gadgets, like a PSP charger that uses the rays of the sun, or the OCZ Equalizer Laser Gaming Mouse - you can’t beat a mouse that lets you get three shots in with one click.

Our resident Sims Gamer, Leora, covers the weirdest Sims 2 Seasons creations, and as you may expect … they’re rather weird.

For Adventure game fans, the Adventuress Amber has some coverage of the Sam & Max creators at GDC and announced the release of DOSBox 0.70 - because DOS adventure games are cool. Or .. you know … fun.

Over at Play Girlz, Erin finds that taking studies about video games seriously has been found to be detrimental to one’s abilities to chew gum, learn other languages, and communicate with extraterrestrial beings. Well, something like that. She also tracked down an awesome site in the UK that allows you to stalk Wii shipments in the off-chance that you might want one. Meanwhile, I learned that Microsoft has been patching up the Xbox 360 with anti-hacking fixes under cloaks of secrecy and silence. But you can get South Park in Xbox Live Marketplace and that’s all that matters. A good thing, too, since Coca Cola thinks video games are a major cause of obesity and taking a break by watching some TV will be good for your health.

No comments...yet. Be the first and you'll be well on your way to being a blogebrity!
