I’m horrible when it comes to writing about myself but I’ll give it a try.
My name, or should I say my nom de plume, is Trench Reynolds. I’ve been blogging since April of 2000. My first blog was and still is TheTrenchcoat Chronicles where I’ve been blogging about school shootings and other school related crimes. I started that blog after I was wrongly identified by a major media outlet as having some kind of connection with the Columbine killers. Long story.
Within the past year I noticed how many of these school shooters and would be school shooters have MySpace accounts. Jokingly I mentioned to some of my crime blogging friends that someone should start a blog about all the crimes related to MySpace. That’s when the light bulb went on and I started MyCrimeSpace. I was amazed at how well it took off. After blogging almost unnoticed for six years suddenly the media was knocking at my door. Thanks to MCS I’ve done several interviews with the media about the dangers and myths of MySpace, most notably for articles in TIME and Rolling Stone.
It was when the Rolling Stone article hit the stands that I decided maybe it was time to go pro. I’m a huge fan of Jay Allen’s Parents Behaving Badly which had just recently been accepted to b5. So I applied to b5media on a lark never expecting me or MyCrimeSpace to be accepted. Since you’re reading this you can probably guess that my application was successful. And I thank b5 for giving me this generous opportunity.
The reason I use a pseudonym is because when you blog about crime there’s a certain element of people who don’t want you to be blogging about their criminal activities. And since I’m a married father of two I’d like to keep my family away from that element.
In addition to the aforementioned blogs I also post at News of Doom, CrimeNe.ws, Tased and Confused, craigscrimelist, and my latest b5 assignment Psycho for Love.
