Yes, yes, yes!!! Finally!
Today is my favorite day this week, by far. Why? Because today I get to announce that the Women’s Channel is getting some serious new legs, and some great new blogs. Led by new Women’s Channel Editor Christina Jones, the channel has been enjoying a lot of internal growth over the last few weeks … And, well, I’m just tickled to be showing off our new babies to the world!
Truth be told, when we made a call for new blogs way back in October, we were most excited about the Women’s blogs that came forth. Just a wealth of amazing writers with fantastic ideas. So it’s been more than a little stressful to see them not quite come to fruition. Until now!
Today we’re launching 3 new Women’s Channel blogs, 2 of them by new b5media authors. This brings the total Women’s Channel to a healthy size of 7, though we anticipate it’ll be much larger soon enough, as Christina’s been doing a great job finding talent for this much-needed area. There simply aren’t enough fantastic women-focussed blogs out there, and we’re very, very happy to be helping out in our own little way.
So, without any further testosterone, here are the new blogs!
Written by new b5′er Kate Baggott, Babylune is all about the joys, challenges and adventures of post-partum recovery. Kate’s personal page here at b5 is a great little read, here is her self-intro, which explains the blog quite well:
On 17 December, 2005 I gave birth to Mary Christina, a lovely little bundle of sweetness and bossiness to complete our little family that includes my husband J, me (Kate) and the newly minted 3 year-old big brother, BJ. […]
Yes, I am an assortment of neuroses and worry, but I try to see the funny side of it.
And I know, my own health and fitness should not come last. My children need a mother who is healthy and calm, stable and fit. A lot is demanded of mothers and we need to be able to rely on our bodies to perform all of those demands. For this reason, at babylune.com, the health and well-being of mothers will come first. In the blog we’ll explore issues of self-care and recovery in the post-partum period for the mother’s body, mind and sense of selfhood. Critics might call it selfish, but those critics can get stuffed.
Wow. Thank you for being a part of b5 Kate, it’s a real honor to have you.
Thrifty Mommy is another great blog, written by another great new b5′er, Kelly Saunders. Much like Simply Thrifty covers overall frugality, Thrifty Mommy is all about saving your time, saving your money and still having a full life. From info on great new sales, to deals going on, to examples of frugality in modern living, this should be an inspirational new blog, especially to so many young moms who have to squeeze a dime out of a dollar and can barely find a penny.
Dating Dames hopes to answer all of your “burning love questions.” Is that anything like a burning… Oh, nevermind! This fun little blog is written by veteran b5media / About Weblogs ladies Gayla McCord and Christine Zheng. Christine is taking a bit of a break right now, but Gayla is already writing up a storm. I’ve already subscribed, and while I’ll never admit to using bad pickup lines (ahem @ #7), I’m sure I’ll still learn a thing or two!

Jeremy .. FYI .. the graphic for Dating Dames is linked to DatingDates.com and while the Bloglines button in the sidebar subscribes correctly, your header.php files must have the cellphone9 links, because my autosubscribe with bloglines is picking up the cellphone9 feed. // thought you should know! // HART
I’m so excited by these blogs (even though I am a bloke). Great stuff
Feed stuff *fixed* :) Thanks, HART, totally overlooked that!
