Matt Thornton is a friend of mine from a long time ago when we were both Advisors over at SitePoint. So when he responded to my call for sports bloggers, I was thrilled. It was like a big reunion. Not only for me but for Jeremy as well. Several years ago, Jeremy, Matt and I tested the entrepreneurial waters by starting Barefooting.com, a web hosting venture that, by the looks of it, is still
in operation.
Yes, there is a rich history. Matt was also one of the main guys who I spent hours and literally hours on MSN Messenger learning how to write PHP with. He taught me how to use mysql_connect(). :-)
Matt’s excitement to run Six and Out, a cricket blog is really great for me - if for nothing else, it will teach me what the sport is about. You see, as with “soccer”, I’m cursed to be an American.
On another note, this is the last sports blog to be launched for awhile. Now that we have achieved 11 blogs, the channel will now settle into a growth period. The plan is to rename the channel “The Best Damn Sports Channel“. ;-)

Now we’re talking! Yay!
Nice. Anything to do with cricket and you got me hooked. :-)
Hey, thats really interesting. There are mot many blogs out there for cricket fans. We were also planning a similar blog, but just couldn`t find a good writer for that.
Cool. I am adding this to my feed reader. Though, just so you know, the links at the bottom of the page (on sixandout.net) for the feeds are URLs for filmgecko.
Thanks for the heads up, Matthew. This should be fixed now.
Thanks all - I’m really excited about this, and it’s great to be working with Aaron and Jeremy again. It’s great to be here.
If anyone’s got any questions on just what the heck Cricket is all about then I’m all ears.
I would like to quickly apologise to any Australian readers of the b5media blogs… because it’s likely that you’re not going to get much love from me on the blog. But then I doubt you’d want the love of a stupid pom anyway ;)
Thanks to Aaron and Ingrid on doing a top job of getting it all set up for me.
I remember the week long disaster that was played out at SitePoint Forums when a Barefooting hardrive died. You guys handled that really well.
Why should there be any love towards the Australian cricket team? We only have the leading Test Team, ODI Team, Batsmen and third and fourth ranked Bowlers.
I don’t know if I’ll be regular reader without the Aussies getting the credit they deserve. Good luck though.
Actually, Anthony, I believe in credit where it’s due. If you check my coverage of the recent India/England series, certainly my emphasis has been on England, but I more than acknowledge that India outplayed us. So if Australia play well, then they’ll get the credit. Though I would have loved to see them lose against Bangladesh.
I completely agree credit where it’s due, leading Test Team, ODI Team…..
It’s just you lose your cred as a topic focused blogger coming out saying you won’t give love towards the best team in the world right from the start. It’s different when it’s just a personal blog but when a blog bills itself as:
All the latest news and information about the wonderful world of cricket.
You’ll find it changes peoples expectations.
Actually, the love (or lack thereof) comment was meant as a joke given the well documented rivalry between England and Australia.
Simple test - read the blog, if you like it, bookmark it. If you don’t… don’t. :)

Aye Carumba. Let the record be set straight. Someone at the data center tried to install Windows 2000 Server over top of our Linux hard drive and apparently caught the issue before a complete format had been done. Forensics on the drive showed that it was only the boot record that appeared to be hosed and it had an NT MBR on it… hmmmm. :p
We learned a lot from that experience or at least I did. Never will something like that take down an enterprise that I have any part in running like it did Barefooting.
Nice work guys… I will be looking for more cricket updates here and would like to add feww mine too… world cup cricket for world cup cricket information!
its a nice blog covering all the day to day advancements in the world of cricket. keep it up…
