When I went online for the very first time back in 1997, I knew at once that I was hooked for life - both literally and figuratively. The ‘net started to play a huge part in my life from then on. And, to me, blogging came long before the term ‘blog’ was ever coined. I started with a personal diary-like journal before moving on to using the technology to host my different web projects such as eWriteLife.com.
Early in 2005, I had the idea of consolidating my blogging projects. And, that’s how AboutWeblogs.com Network was born (May 2005). After launching a few blogs of my own under the network, I started inviting some of my online friends to join me in the project. The idea caught on - and we ended up with about 20 all-female bloggers with roughly around 30 blogs by September/October 2005. That’s when b5media approached me and AboutWeblogs became part of the b5media network. And, I became the fourth partner, along with Jeremy, Darren and Duncan.
I’m also a Guide to the Web Logs blog site at About.com, a New York Times company. Some of my other online projects include: a video blog, FreshWave.TV, which I run with a friend. This online TV show is currently syndicated by Akimbo Systems. I also have a podcast show called Shai in 60 Seconds. And, my personal blog is at ShaiCoggins.com.
Apart from my very busy and active online life, I also work part-time as a psychologist specialising in the field of disabilities. I have a Master of Social Sciences degree in Applied Psychology and a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.
I’ve also been known to dabble in art and has sold some of my paintings to various clients worldwide. I also participated in some group exhibits and had some of my works published. But, this part of my life has taken a bit of a backseat lately, and I can only create for fun and practice - rather than for sales and shows.
And yes, I’m also a mum to a boy named Cameron (born Jan 2004) and a wife to a bigger boy named Jeremy. :-)
