Processing Applications

We’ve been a bit swamped with applications since yesterday’s call for business bloggers. As a result, we wanted to lay out our expected process for applications, so everyone knows what to expect.

After you submit the appliction, assuming it doesn’t get caught by any spam filters, you should receive a response from me the same day. It will either be either a “thanks for the application, but this probably isn’t the best fit right now” or “this sounds good, let me forward it to our Business Channel Editor”.

The next step is for our business channel editor to review applications. I believe his plan is to separate them into “yes”, “no” and “maybe” piles. People in the yes and no groups should receive a response within 48 hours or so. People in the maybe group should also receive a response, but it will be things like asking for writing samples, looking to brainstorm new ideas, etc.

Ultimately, our goal is to narrow down our list to 20 or so blogs by the end of this weekend. We might take some extra time, but we’d really like to begin pushing forward with this.

Finally, thank you to each and every applicant. We can’t accept everyone (we’re well over 50 applications already), but every applicant has been professional, has offered something unique and has been passionate about their area of expertise. We’re honored that you applied to b5media, and we’re confident each one of you will succeed both in blogging and in your careers.

Now, back to the application backlog!

Semi-related Note:
If your email is hosted at GoDaddy, we will likely have problems responding to it. So, if you use GoDaddy to host your email, please try and send us email with an account hosted elsewhere.

I’d like to quickly thank the people at b5 for being so open and friendly with their advertisement for new crew members. It is great to see a business so organic and fresh!

Dear Jeremy, I sent my application the day before yesterday. Have you received it? Thanks a lot. ^_^

I never got a response to my application. I think it’s nearly 2 months now, so I assume I got caught in a spam filter, though I can’t imagine what I would have written to do that.
