b5media Acquires Level9
TORONTO - July 16, 2007 - b5media is pleased to announce the acquisition of Level9 Media Inc., which operates a network of eight blogs, including the popular Starked group.
The purchase is the largest one made to date by b5media, the world's third largest new media blog network with 230 blogs - which attract more than three million unique visitors per month.
"Level9 has weathered many challenges since launch, and has emerged with a strong team of passionate writers, valuable properties and a number of strong brands," said Jeremy Wright, b5media's chief executive officer.
Roy Tahsin, Level9's founder and publisher, said the deal brings together two fast-growing and exciting networks.
"It shows the blogosphere is still alive and well," he said. "b5media is the perfect new home for Level9 Media as it's made up of a great management team and great writers all striving to bring the best content to the Web."
Level9's blogs include:
Starked (NYC, San Francisco, LA and Washington, D.C.), which deliver industry news and gossip specific to each city. LA is focused on Hollywood and the film/television industry; NYC on media and publishing; and San Francisco on technology and money.
The sites also feature local news, reviews on places, and a focus on the movers & shakers, socialites, and the people who make the cities what they are.
Dejuiced: Sports. All the sports news, gossip, players' dirty laundry, events, and chat you can handle from serious sports fanatics. Like our title says, Dejuiced squeezes the news so you can read fresh.
Sirened: Level9's answer to the never ending and ongoing life in political satire. Additionally, the site will also cover news on "corporate propaganda" because we really don't think Enron was the first or the last of its kind.
b5media received venture capital financing in late-2006 from JLA Ventures and Brightspark Ventures.
