Thanks for coming by to read more about me. Two things I’ve loved since I can remember are nature and words. No, I don’t really talk a lot, but I do like to write. As for loving nature, maybe it’s because I grew up surrounded by trees and fields. I had lots of opportunities to wander around, picking up fallen pecans or avoiding cow patties. And once, I was even chased and kicked (in the behind after I fell) by a rooster named Sparky.
I’m sure you’ve guessed that I grew up on a farm. Now I live in the city. While I still love nature walks, I probably don’t get to take them as often as I used to. Last year, I decided to get back to two of the things I love – the environment and writing. What better way to do that than with a green blog, right? I started my green writing over at Light Green Stairs, my personal blog. Now, I’m happy to continue it at Tree Hugging Family with Jennifer Chait, my co-blogger. I’m also blogging at b5media’s Junk Creation, a fun place to hang and learn about reusing junk.
Other members of my Southeastern U.S. family include husband Michael and kitty cat Choco. You’ll probably see Choco snoop into my blog photos more often than Michael. He’s a nosy and noisy cat.
Besides the earth and writing, what else do I like? Animals, especially felines and primates. Baking — desserts in particular! Traveling anywhere I can, with a bias toward places with aquariums, beautiful gardens and great museums. Reading poetry or anything else that’s unique.
What do I do when I’m not blogging, petting my cat or planning my next dessert? I’m a full-time freelance writer, and you can reach me with your wonderful ideas at peggy.rowland (at) b5media.com.
A photo caption because you know you’re wondering:
Yes, that’s me in front of one of Andy Warhol’s paintings at the National Gallery of Art. This photo was taken after the first and before the second time I was corrected by the same guard for having my backpack purse on both shoulders. It was habit. I could have turned around and smashed down some great art, but that wasn’t my intention.
