Our First 100,000

It only took a week, but b5media, yesterday at about noon Eastern Time, received our 100,000th visitor. Thanks to everyone for all of the support, to all the authors for all of the hard work, and to all the partners for all of the help.

It’s a great milestone, and one we’re very, very happy about.

Which blogs performed the best? On a pure traffic level, the b5media blog, Flightnest, The Unauthorized Microsoft Weblog and Play Girlz did the best.

From a growth one, our new New Linux User blog has been doing fantastically, as has Literally Blogging (our literature blog) and Unplugged Living.

In the next week or so, we should also have a new blog or two to talk about, and a few new ways to communicate with us and our authors, if you so desire.

Have a great weekend everyone!

OOPS!

The link to the Mikrosoft Weblog landed me at http://www.e-office.com/wps/portal
instead at http://www.microsoftweblog.com/ because you are actually linking to http://www.microsoft-weblog.com/!!

Good luck with lots of waddle, waddle traffic Jon. ;P You might find it encouraging to know Matt of WordPress fame is now Ubuntu’ing after reading one of his fellow wordpress.com bloggers Ubuntu blog.
And its been top of the hot blogs today for a while now! I’ve gotta try and knock that penguin off. ;)

Don’t piss off a penguin man…they can run like 100 kilometers an hour or something.

Or so I heard…

100,000th visitor across the whole network? And didn’t you launch on the 19th so isn’t that more like a week and a half? Sorry it’s late, I get picky.

Sorry that comment came off a bit harsh in my opinion. I am just fascinated by stats so I am trying to clarify what the 100,000th visitor actually means?

Also, are you doing the measuring with shortstat or another software package in addition to shortstat?

Darren Rowse on October 2nd, 2005 at 04:41

go to bed Scrivs.

I’m not sure exactly where he got the stats mate but from what I know its not a short stats stat but a server based stat.

Short Stats stats pick up a lot of spider/bot traffic.

Scrivs: AWStats. ShortStat would put it at closer to 200,000 right now. Also, this was posted on Friday about the stats for Thursday, so it was just over a week :)

That makes much more sense now. Yeah shortstat picks up a lot of random hits. Nice goin guys. Here’s to the 1Mth (that would be 1 millionth).
