Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been doing some fairly massive internal restructuring at b5media. One of those changes has been to bring on “Channel Editors” (working title) to help reviewing applications, talking to bloggers and getting them setup and then doing the day-to-day running of our “Channels” (again, working title).
One of our Channel Editors is Arieanna Foley who writes a large amount of blogs for us (I’ve lost count, but I believe it’s 6-7 blogs). She is also in charge of our Entertainment Channel.
Arieanna is amazing. She multi-tasks well, works well with people and loves to Get Things Done.
The introduction of Channel Editors will see us adding new blogs more quickly, responding to applications more quickly, communicating more effectively and generally allow us to go from an overloaded tugboat to a much more efficient vessel (of some metaphor or another).
This efficiency is visible in how quickly Arieanna’s been getting new Entertainment blogs ready, including the latest group of launches for both TV shows and specific celebrities:
House Is Right: House is becoming an increasingly popular show in its time slot. I admit to watching it on occasion, purely because the lead character is so sarcastic and yet so frail it’s hard to avert your eyes.
Supernanny Rules: My wife and I watch this show on occasion because, being parents to two young boys we can readily relate to many of the challenges the parents face. It’s not a weekly thing (maybe monthly), but whenever we do we learn something (whether it applies to our kids or not) and it always results in lively conversation.
Medium Dreams: Okay, Medium is one of my addictions. It manages to largely stay far enough away from “freaky” that my wife enjoys it, and any show we can watch together is good in my books.
Alba Fan: Jessica Alba is set to become one of the next round of mega stars in Hollywood, so there’s lots to talk about from new movies to interesting interviews to profiles on the star. It should give that tweenie demographic (and those creepy old men who love to read about young actresses) something interesting to read on a regular basis.
TomKat Crazy: Who knows how long this blog will last. Personally, I’m not really into following celebrities or celebrity romances, but we seem to have found an audience for this type of thing, and we have no plans to disappoint.
It should go without saying that we have no plans of turning into just an entertainment network, however Arieanna was simply the first official Channel Editor we brought on board.
We’ll have more information on this new move, including more of our thoughts behind it and for the future and profiles of our newest Channel Editors and Channels over the coming days.

Didn’t you guys say you wouldn’t be coming out with a lot of celebrity-focused blogs? Lol.
Quote from y’all:
“Don’t worry though, sports fans (and any non-celeb fans), our sole focus for the next few weeks won’t be on celebrities! More new and old blogs will be joining b5media in the coming week or two at a rate that we find exciting (and a bit tiring, to be honest)”
Musta been opposite day!
Hey, we launched Blog Fabulous :p
Couldn’t it be argued that tv show blogs aren’t necessarily ‘celebrity’ blogs? :)
Sure, but what’d be the fun in that?!
Truth is, the integration with About Weblogs is taking longer than planned. As soon as we get the technical issues sorted out, though, we’ll be launching a huge new chunk of decidedly non-celebrity, non-tv-show blogs Mike, dont’ worry :)
Sure Ingrid, but what do you think Tom Cruise and Jessica Alba area? Those are newly launched blogs as well, right?
are* ;)
Mike, you win.
I think Jeremy just likes it when you guys call him on stuff. You should just keep a notebook with Jeremy quotes so when he goes back on the things he stated before you can catch him every time.
… you probably already do that. ;)
We don’t need to keep a notebook - we have this blog.
;o)
haha. Really, it turned from an idea of celebrities to celebrities & tv, to anything entertainment. A growing idea. But I have been pushing it through, so you can blame me for the mass launches in this area ;)
Oooh! Can I play?
I remember Jeremy telling us not to post as ‘b5bloggers’!
This is a fun game…we have so little do here in Canada as the winter draws near :)
Never mind the celebrity/tv blogs. I’m going to make sure the science and health blogs dominate the network by the end of next year. ;)
Hsien Lei… I’ll cross my fingers on that! How can http://www.mischanews.com/2005/11/23/mischa-on-the-set/ be considered “News?” (it’s not) How many times do we have to NOT see Mischa Barton’s Nipple (335,000) .. I would much rather read about genomics and health issues online, instead of what type of Milk Tom Cruise mixes with his Alpha Bits .. or this illusive Web 2.0 malarkey .. :-) When do you go Live under new URL?
HART, Cool! Another science geek. ;) Not sure yet when we will move house, but you can bet I will be announcing it loudly wherever I can.
HART: Agreed. The Entertainment Channel is just high growth for us right now because we’re getting it up and running. Dont’ worry, after the first few batches it’ll slow right down.
We’re expecting to launch a few tech blogs next week, probably a travel blog and hopefully some women’s blogs as well (and a couple of surprises).
There you go with the surprises again, Jeremy! Those guys are going to jump down your throat. :P
I see it as being alright with me. B5’s Entertaining to watch. Now these aren’t my type of reads. But I am sure someone will.
Good luck to you guys.
Darn b5blogger login. That’s what I get for logging in there to help my bloggers get oriented and not logging out. my bad ;)
Clearly I need to start posting this sort of stuff on blognetworkwatch. A celebrity cat fight ;-)
j/k
