Today I wanted to give you a little inside information about one of b5media’s most interesting and prolific bloggers, one of our top beauty & style bloggers, and most importantly, someone I consider a good friend. Dexie Wharton has been writing with us for about 7 months now, she started in my channel at She Knows Best, and has really taken off with that blog. She also writes the newer blogs StyleTots and Style It Less in the Beauty & Style Channel, as well as Soaps on ABC in the Entertainment channel. Along with all of her hard work here at b5media, she does so much better than me and actually writes her personal blog, Feisty Momma as well as contributes to Superwoman.ca, Hell.ca, Forks.ca and the Pinoy Moms Network. Exhausted yet? I really don’t know how she does it and does it all so well, she is a wonderful example of a professional blogger and a mommy who does it all. So without further adieu, here is more about Dexie, straight from the bloggers mouth:
How about a quick and dirty rundown of your family life…
My family, Well, Hubby and I have been married for 10 years. We’ve pretty much lived a military life for almost 9 years. My son is 9 and my daughter is going on 15 months old. Yup, such an age gap. My Dad and step-mom live in San Diego, California with my 2 half-siblings, where I would always dream of moving back to but my family just can’t afford to right now. Or ever for that matter. I just find solace in calling myself a “cali girl, forever” Hehe. I have a brother in the U.S Army who just had a baby of his own recently. My mother died of leukemia when I was only 10 and my brother was only 8.
Tell us about your passion for fashion…
I love fashion. I love experimenting and expressing my own ideas through outfits. I don’t usually follow the rules but I’m also aware of the things I should. It makes me feel good to look good. I have moments when I couldn’t be bothered but as long as I’m wearing lip gloss and nice pair of shoes, I’m good :) .
What is your favorite brand/designer?
I love and adore Donna Karan. She knows how to dress Women. She understands the body shapes, silhouettes and classic styles. And I wouldn’t mind owning a Louis Vuitton Epi someday. :)
How is writing about Mens fashion different than your other fashion writing?
Blogging for men’s fashion actually feeds my luxury dreams. I’m a woman who loves to look good in bargains but I do appreciate high-end fashion. With She Knows Best, I could talk about huge designer names like they’re my neighbors, so to speak. Plus I love pointing it out to my husband that SHE KNOWS BEST. :)
Have you learned any important life lessons while blogging?
Yes. Time management, patience (I’m the most impatient person in the world), controlling my emotions, well sometimes. :)
What other things in your life are you passionate about?
I love to cook. I could watch a cooking show on TV one minute and you’ll find me cooking in my kitchen my own version of any recipe the next. Don’t ask me what the name of the last person who introduced herself to me coz I won’t remember, but my photographic memory knows the ingredients of a certain dish in a heartbeat. I also love to read. I just need to find time to really immerse myself in a book these days. I also love to dance. If I hear a dance song during the day, I could be blogging or doing dishes or whatever, I’d stop and dance to my hearts desire. Sometimes with my daughter. It’s pretty much part of my daily work-out.
Do people in your life think you are crazy when you tell them you are a professional blogger?
Not that I know of. They know I do some “writing online.” It’s when they ask “what about?” that I get totally tongue tied since I write about different topics. I have too many blogs, I think :)
What would you be doing if you weren’t blogging?
I’d be mopping my floors every week. Probably wash, dry, fold and put the laundry away all in one day. LOL.
If you could be doing anything in the world, what would it be?
Wow, I don’t know. I actually love being a mom and a wife and blogging that I couldn’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing. Well, I’d love to experience the cultures of different countries, taste their food, visit museums, stuff like that but my Family would still be with me and of course the laptop to chronicle everything through blogging :) .
Also, it’s always been a dream of mine to build some kind of a half-way house in the Philippines for under privileged children. If I win the lottery, I need to buy a ticket of course, I’m going back to the Philippines to start something like what Oprah is doing in South Africa with her Leadership Academy for Girls. Probably not like the scope of what Oprah has done but something like that. Give kids the opportunity to go to school, live life like kids should and enjoy it. That’s my dream :)
Do you have any advice for new beauty/style bloggers?
Love it and constantly learn about it. Be firm with your style and beauty identity but be willing to learn more. Most of all have fun.

So, in short, Dexie is your every day workaholic - and a charming one at that. :) We are so lucky to have Dexie and I think that you will find yourself loving Dexie as much as I do when you check out all of the interesting and wonderful things she is doing online. Plus motherhood. Plus wifehood. She is amazing, don’t you agree? :)

This was a great read — we should have more of these. At least monthly. It’s nice to see what other bloggers are up to and it made me feel better to hear about someone who is also a mama and yet as busy with work as me. Very cool interview.
