“A gloss on beauty, fashion, love, career, and more”
NEW YORK, NY and TORONTO – March 8, 2010 – This Women’s History Month, b5media, Inc., a leading online media company, has launched a new fashion and beauty website, TheGloss.com. The site debuted today as an engaging interactive destination for women.
The Gloss is an important step for b5media as it transitions from a new media network of blogs into a global entertainment lifestyle media company. The Gloss follows in the already-successful footsteps of its sibling site, Crushable.com, which launched last month. Online innovator Elizabeth Spiers oversees the site, along with Editor-in-Chief Lilit Marcus and Deputy Editor Jennifer Wright. Marcus was the editor of Jewcy.com and is the cofounder and editor of Savetheassistants.com, and Wright is the former Senior Editor of askmelissa.com.
The Gloss isn’t just another style website that mindlessly repeats the latest trends without providing take-away value. It’s a website for savvy, modern women who crave content that speaks to them as peers. The woman who reads The Gloss is as likely to shop at high-end boutiques as she is to shop at flea markets, and the site’s wide range of coverage speaks to that eclectic taste. In addition to covering beauty and fashion, The Gloss also publishes relatable features about sex, dating, career, and culture. Columnists include respected beauty blogger and Confessions of a Beauty Addict author Nadine Jolie, political pundit and former Air America news editor Megan Carpentier, and Fashism.com cofounder Brooke Moreland.
“I am proud to create a site that speaks to the manifold experiences of modern women,” said b5media CEO Elaine Kunda. “Today’s woman does not want to be a type, she wants to be an individual. She deserves a website that lets her explore all of her interests without putting her in a box.”
“Running a site like this is a dream come true for me,” says Marcus. “So often, sites aimed at women end up talking down to them. I want to create a place where women from a variety of backgrounds can all feel welcomed, encouraged, and valued.”
“TheGloss is a smart, sexy take on fashion, beauty and style with something you won’t find in most women’s publications–a great sense of humor. I’m excited to see it develop and grow,” adds Spiers.
