Hi, I’m Jennifer Hinkel. I write and lecture on health policy and the health care industry, and you can now find me at Health Care Insiders on the b5media network. Since 2003, I’ve worked on a wide range of health care issues nationally and internationally. My interests within health care include pharmaceutical economics, health informatics, cancer care, and international health systems. My travels as part of the health care industry have taken me from the House of Lords in London to national advocacy organizations in Washington, D.C. and now back to my home town of Philadelphia.
By day, I work on improving the quality of cancer care around the country, concentrating on issues such as patient safety and leveraging information technology to drive higher quality care. By night, I teach health systems and health economics courses at three Philadelphia area universities. I like to give my students (and readers!) the inside scoop on how health care in America — and around the world — really works.
My academic training is in international policy and health economics, and this background certainly has shaped my perspective. My goal is to cut to the chase of the most perplexing health industry issues by singling out the winners and losers, following the money, and turning common health care myths on their heads.
In my rare moments of free time, I enjoy writing fiction, skiing, sailing, and traveling.
