Hey… This is me, Jennifer. Here at b5media I blog at the strange and beautiful Offbeat Homes. I’m also blogging away at Tree Hugging Family an amazing green lifestyle blog for the whole family — kids very much included. And I get to indulge my inner list creator over at Declutter It.

Here’s more about me, in a tiny (okay long) text nutshell:

I’m a full-time freelance writer, problogger, and an unschooling mama of an amazing seven year old boy. I’m addicted to blogs,architecture, music, books, and learning about most new topics, (except spiders, ick). I recently moved back to the rain-filled Northwest after stints in Humboldt and Albuquerque.

I love exploring green living topics, anything related to blogs, unusual or lovely structures, and new ways of living. I recently co-built a passive solar house on top of a New Mexico mountain. But truthfully, I’d rather be writing — less dirt, less drama, and much more air conditioning. Next time we build, I think I’d like to be in charge and just shout orders.

Since I’d rather be writing, that’s usually what I’m doing. My current work is concentrated on full time blogging but I’ve also worked on fresh copy for non-profits, businesses, and various miscellaneous clients. Other writing I’ve done includes web projects, national magazine articles, proposals and grants, health profiles and more. My writing specialty covers topics related to architecture, green living, blogging, and health and wellness. I’m also absolutely obsessed with pregnancy and birth topics.

I love volunteering, (ok, you’re thinking, is there something this girl doesn’t love — yes, please refer to the above spider issue). I’ve mentored with various youth programs including Big Sisters of America — which I highly recommend (especially to men: did you know that young boys can sit on the waiting list for a mentor for up to seven years). In the past, I’ve worked as a case manager and youth advocate for homeless youth and with developmentally disabled individuals.

Oh, and for those of you saying, “Didn’t she say she had a seven year old?” Yes, the picture is a little old — but 1) I’m usually the one taking the pictures, and 2) I don’t photograph well anyhow, so you’re lucky to see this. Believe me, I look exactly the same right this second. Well, except no lip ring, and my hair is probably a bit longer.
