My spouse calls me Tall, Blonde and Icelendic, but you can call me PR Geek, or just plain old Eric Eggertson.

I’ve been writing offline and online for about 28 years, if you include my first earnest effort as the creative writing editor of the Capilano Courier student paper at Capilano College. My poetry and fiction career was mercifully short.

I’ve been advising executives and lesser mortals about how to understand and influence the people and organizations they deal with for about 12 years now.

One of my most satisfying jobs was as editor of a trade publication. Each issue would find me identifying a business issue and providing examples that would simplify and humanize the issue for my readers.

When a friend asked me, “What do you do to express your creativity, Eric?”, I didn’t have an answer handy. I started blogging the following month.

That was two years ago, and I’ve been trying to simplify and humanize people’s understanding of how business communications works ever since.

Common Sense PR is a blog for business executives, business administration students, middle managers, entrepreneurs and all the other folks in an organization who rely on good PR, but don’t necessarily know how to make it happen. I also want to provide some insight into the business mindset, to help public relations people understand what their counterparts in business expect, and the language they speak.
