The Entertainment channel has been growing quickly - we welcome a number of new blogs and bloggers to our crazy crew. It’s been an exciting month for us all - and a little hectic too with the holidays fast approaching.
Top Entertainment News
Take a walk through the channel with me as we highlight some of the top news from the Spekked.com blogs:
Tired yet? ;)
Blog Launch
Welcome the latest genre blog to Spekked - FBI Dramas! I bet you never really thought about just how many shows revolve around the FBI. Well, enough for a blog! From Criminal Minds and Without A Trace right back to our beloved X-Files. So can’t wait for that new movie!
FBI Dramas is chaired by our very own Alexandra Violet Dyer of The 4400 Guide. Mystery and drama are her forte!
Come join us at FBI Dramas and help the FBI crack the case.
Blogger Interview
I am very happy to interview a relatively new addition to b5media, Jillian Cohan. Jillian heads up the recently-launched Showtime Fan. Let’s get to know Jillian a little better:
What made you want to write about Showtime as a topic?
As new series like Weeds, Dexter and Californication debuted, I
finally felt like there was a network writing with the kind of funny
(but also dark and complicated) point of view that I used to find in
independent films. I’m also attracted to the underdog, so it made
sense to blog about a ‘net that’s using it’s come-from-behind status
as an asset. Oh, and the hot guys on The Tudors don’t hurt!
What do you think the Spekked Entertainment blogs offer that other
Entertainment sites do not?
It’s really one-stop shopping, which is great because we all have
varied appetites for entertainment. In a given day, I’ll check out the
latest on my guilty-pleasure shows (PLEASE tell me more people have
started watching Reaper!), read up on gadgets and video games so I
have a clue of what my BF wants for the holidays, and stop by my gal
pal Shea’s MTV Reality World blog so I know what’s going on with those
crazy kids on The Real World. Spekked bloggers have done the work so I
don’t have to go a day without my fill of pop culture.
If you could pick a character to be on any Showtime show, who would you be
and why?
I’ve got a total crush on Becca, Hank and Karen’s daughter on
Californication. She’s so precocious — all rocker-chick tough outside
and sweet inside — and she’s so much more self-possessed than I ever
was at her age. Critics have found the character (played by Madeline
Martin) too "adult" for a 12-year-old, but I think that’s the point –
she’s a foil for the childish grownups around her.
Tell us a little about yourself.
In my day job I’m a newspaper reporter — very "just the facts, ma’am"
– so I’m happy to have b5media as an outlet for my lighter side. I
live in the Midwest with my sportswriter BF and my orange tiger cat,
Miles. Two of the three residents in our house blog, though Miles
occasionally taps his paws on the keyboard. He seems to love Zs.
Probably fitting, since he’s a professional napper.
Welcome to b5 Jillian! Glad to have you on board.
Tune in again on December 28th as we take you on a very special tour of the Entertainment channel.
Happy Holidays
from the Spekked team!
