Hello all, I thought I should take a few minutes and introduce myself. My name is Chloe Findlay-Harder, and as well as being one of b5 Media’s bloggers, I’m also a professional puppeteer, accessories designer and artist. I share my life with my husband, our dogs, birds, fish (who guilt-trip me any time I step foot into my studio) I think my collection of tropical plants is threatening to take over my studio…
I think I was born making things - in fact, my mother still has pieces of embroidery that I did when I was three years old. I must admit, they are not technically perfect (or easily recognizable) but the interest was there.
I trained for several years as a painter, but these days I prefer to work with fabric & mixed media to create my artwork. You can see some of my artquilts here. I also apprenticed as a puppeteer with my mother, Noreen Crone-Findlay (who writes Hankering for Yarn for b5) I’m working solo as puppeteer these days, and primarily educate young children on ways we can take care of the planet. I love the challenge of keeping kids entertained & listening for 45 minutes at a time… while making sure they learn too!
I also teach classes for a local craft store. I specialize in jewelry & card making, but I tend to teach a pretty wide area of techniques. I’ve previously taught kids sewing classes, which was a blast - but it can be a challenge to explain to a 5 year old why it’s bad to stick your fingers under the presser foot!
I’m looking forward to sharing a little bit of my studio with my readers & hopefully we’ll all have some fun!
