If I can drag you away from Aaron’s awesome explanation of our beeeaa-utiful new templates, I would love to introduce you to one of my favorite folks here at b5media!
Teri Cosenzi is one of our Beauty & Style writers, and even before she came to join us at b5media, I knew her as one of the most enthusiastic, caring and passionate people I have met in the beauty blogging world. Teri now blogs for b5media at Aging Fabulous and Pretty by Nature. She also has a very successful and well known blog on her own at Beautiful Makeup Search. If beauty is your bag, you have probably already met Teri, but if you haven’t, let this be your introduction:
Tell us about your family life:
Okay - I have been married to my husband for almost 18 years now (WOW!), and we have four kiddos together: Justin (15), Caci - my only girly (11), Johnny (10), and my baby Joey (7). Notice all the “J” names? They make me c-r-a-z-y! We all live ((happily)) in Massachusetts, about an hour from Boston, two from NYC. Hubby is a car dealer, and only goes into work 2 - 3 days a week - which is nice, most of the time ;)
Tell me about your passion for beauty and style…
I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup until I was 17, but once I was, I was the authority on all things beauty and style for my entire high school. No one could out-dress me, and I was definitely a trendsetter. My love for beauty and passion for fashion has only grown through the years. A day does not go by in which I do not try a new beauty product.
What is your favorite brand/designer?
It’s a toss up between Marc Jacobs, love the MARC by Marc Jacobs line, and Diane von Furstenberg, as you can never beat a beautiful dress, especially her wrap dresses.
Have you learned any important life lessons while blogging?
One of the first things I have had to learn about blogging is that not everyone will agree with what I have to say. The so many different opinions that people have, and the criticisms that I have endured have taught me to be true to myself, but to listen and accept that not everyone will like or agree with me - and that it is okay.
What other things in your life are you passionate about?
I am first and foremost passionate about my children - they are my life, and will always come first. Oh, and I love to decorate and am constantly redecorating rooms, even if just changing up the pillows or moving furniture around. I change many of the rooms in my home seasonally.
Do people in your life think you are crazy when you tell them you are a professional blogger?
To be honest, most people don’t understand what I do. And I find that even after I tell them, they are only interested in all the free products I get to try!
What would you be doing if you weren’t blogging?
This is such a tough question. I would probably still be reviewing beauty products, but just in a different format, as I previously did on my webzine. I loved designing websites too, and dabbling in some graphic design, so maybe something along those lines. I do know that it would be computer related.
If you could be doing anything in the world, what would it be?
Traveling the world while helping underprivileged children along the way.
Do you have any advice for new beauty/style bloggers?
You must have a passion for what you are writing about and have fun. If you don’t enjoy what you are writing about, readers will know it. Blog often, and reach out to your readers to keep it a bit personal, while not getting too personal, at the same time.
Thanks for answering my questions Teri, it is a pleasure getting to know you better! Please do stop in to Teri’s blogs and spend a little time getting to know her and chatting with her in the comments - I promise it will be well worth your time. Do remember Teri’s name, she is an integral part of b5media - as are all of our bloggers - and you will be hearing it even more often soon enough. ;)
If you would like to join Teri and our other fabulous writers in our ever growing Beauty & Style channel, please feel free to fill out an application at http://b5media.com/jobs - we are looking primarily for fashion bloggers to round out the channel a little bit these days, but are open to any and all of your great ideas, and would love to talk to you!
