The last few months have been a time of great change for our channel. We’ve changed the name after some great little discussions to Arts and Design from the former “Arts and Crafts”. Just yesterday we brought in three blogs from the former “Writing and Lit” channel and earlier this month we brought in the performing arts blog, www.FameorFamine.com written by Gray Miller.
In short, there’s been a lot of change. We are confident that we have a pretty stable foundation on which we can now grow.
Also, there is some news to share from the channel.
Cyndi Lavin from Layers Upon Layers shares:
Two books that include my work have just been published:
The Beader’s Color Mixing Directory by Sandra Wallace Making Designer Mixed Media and Memory Jewelry by Tammy Powley (who writes www.jewelryandbeading.com)I’ve got some killer artist profiles that have been posted with some really neat people. This has become a regular feature.
Here are some of the other top posts among the A&D blogs that were not mentioned above:
update: Chloe Findlay is the new blogger on Tangled Thread (and she is doing a great job there), but I accidentally grabbed an older post of Cathy’s. Tangled Thread shares with us How to Make a Beautiful Ribbon Bow for Your Gift or Gift Basket and Save Money Too which may come in handy for that Easter basket that you might be getting ready to make.
Cory Aldrich (AKA bald man) also writes a bit of fiction. 55 words or less to be exact. As he is new here to the A&D channel, check out the most recent post of The Seedling
Mary Emma from Quilting and Patchwork has several free quilting and patchwork patterns available that will probably come in handy as you are doing your spring cleaning and finding some old clothes that may be recycled into something beautiful.
If you have ever wanted to get published in a magazine as a free lance writer, you may have had the question “Should I submit a completed article to a trade magazine in hopes they accept it, or should I submit a query first?” well, Anne answers that question at The Golden Pencil.
Noreen has been experimenting with How to make a book & bind it with spoolknitting which is a wonderful little tutorial on making keepsake books and journals as gifts or just for yourself.
As someone who writes on a daily basis, when it comes to my own journal writing, I sometimes like to have prompts. A great resource for writing prompts is our new “A Creative Journal” by Heather Goldsmith
Katelyn from Stamping Mad is making ATCs now and if you don’t know what that is, you should probably read her post on What is an ATC and Why Would I Want One?
Gray Miller, from Fame or Famine is melding dance and technology at the Lincoln Center Festival, well he isn’t personally but he has a great post on it today. If you are into photography or dance, you might check this one out.
Christine (Mad Cropper) has quite a few free scapbooking layouts and templates for scrapbookers of every age and level.
As for me (William Lehman) over at Artist Hideout, I had the amazing opportunity to interview with the founder of www.myartplot.com and Josh Simpson from Josh Simpson Contemporary Glass.
Also, as a little plug here for the channel, I am looking for some great blogs to bring on board with the new and improved Arts and Design channel. If you currently run a blog that you feel might fit within the channel and are doing a fair amount of page views per month, (but would like to make more money from pouring all that effort into it) fill out an application. We’d love to hear from you!
