We’ve been busy little bees over here at b5media and while many of the changes that we have planned are internal, others are being slowly rolled out across the network. A few weeks ago, we announced the addition of the Business Channel and yesterday we announced a Phase II launch within Business.
In conjunction with that launch, we also soft-launched the Staff channel. The Staff Channel is really the old Blogging Channel with some small differences. Namely Personnel changes as well as goal changes.
Goal Changes
While it’s true that the old blogging channel served a purpose, the reality is that it had become a bit of a mish-mash of blogs that didn’t fit anywhere else. There was the b5media.com blog, Darren’s Problogger, Jeremy’s Ensight and Liz Strauss’ Successful Blog. Really quite a mismatch of different things though all loosely blogging related.
Instead we decided that this would be the Staff channel. It would house the personal and/or niche blogs of those of us who are on full time staff. Call it a corporate channel if you want because the b5media site is included.
Personnel Changes
The reorganization comes in moving two members into other channels. Firstly, Liz’ Successful Blog is now aligned with the Business channel. And it makes more sense there anyway. Secondly, my blog, Technosailor is moving from the Tech channel into the Staff channel. The reality is that though I talk mostly about Tech, I like to talk about other things as well - including b5media.
There are some other changes coming as well. Most notably, Mark Evans will be moving his personal blog into the Staff channel soon. And as usual, we’ll continue to move forward with more incremental changes as time goes on.
The Conversation
The problem with the b5 blog is there is no obvious way to tell who the author is. It wasn’t until you used Jeremy in the third person and mentioned Technosailor I could put two and two together..
Yep, we’re working on it :) - Jeremy
