I work at Richmond’s City Hall by day.
I’m a grad student @ VCU (Master of Urban Planning) at night.
On TheScentedLife, I discuss fragrances and offer recommendations for scents that will enhance your life. I find scent to be one of the senses that I enjoy most. Many people spend lots of money redecorating their homes, on music and movies to delight the eyes and ears, fluffy towels and high-thread count sheets. In my world, you’re not really living unless you’re tuned in to the scents around you as well. This can be as simple as opening a window to enjoy a fresh breeze, or stopping to enjoy the scent of a vine-ripened tomato. How many times has a scent taken you back in time - a perfume that your grandmother used to wear, or burying your head in your lover’s shirt while he is away on business? It’s the little things that make our lives special and memorable.
In February 2006 I launched Modern Atelier, my own line of perfumes and colognes. The signature scents are inspired by the sights and sounds of Richmond, VA. I also have a personal blog in which I discuss beauty business news, new products, and of course my own perfumery craft.
As of February, 2007 I am the beauty editor for Richmond.com. My monthly column, Budget Beauty Junkie, is a collection of reviews for new and noteworty drugstore cosmetics. My focus is on finding products that match or outperform high-priced department store cosmetics.
I study, I blog, I make perfume, I sleep. That’s really about it these days. When I dream, I dream about old houses like they’re puppies at the SPCA, and I can’t save them all. When I can, I ride my bike to work.
Some assorted interests include:
