What Makes a Blog Network Successful?

Somehow, the launch of b5media last week focused in peoples minds the question of whether or not blog networks were useful, whether or not readers found them valuable and why in the world bloggers would join them. It also made people wonder about what the “right” pay scale was.
After all, some networks pay a […]

Our First 100,000

It only took a week, but b5media, yesterday at about noon Eastern Time, received our 100,000th visitor. Thanks to everyone for all of the support, to all the authors for all of the hard work, and to all the partners for all of the help.
It’s a great milestone, and one we’re very, very happy about.
Which […]

b5media welcomes New Linux User to the network

Another day, another blog you might as well say, but I get the honour of announcing this one because it goes straight to my heart as somebody with an interest in Linux but who really hasn’t got much of a clue past installing Fedora Core 4 on my system and wasting 2 weeks trying to […]

We’re Being Parodied?

It’s hard not to laugh when someone pokes fun at you to let you know they’re coming. We’re pretty sure Darren’s the one on the right (since he’s, ahem, follicly challenged) and I’m the one on the left (since I’ve got a ponytail?!) which leaves Duncan as the bored one in the middle.
Instablogs is apparently […]

The b5media Flyers

I love the fact that b5media is made up of real people. Some of those are close enough to where I live that I get to meet them. The first of those is Tim Flight who, ironically writes our Flightnest blog (I’m sure that joke gets old for him).
Last Saturday, he flew out to an […]

Blogger Interview: Jayvee Fernandez

This is the first in a series of what will hopefully become weekly blogger interviews. As we’ve said all along, our goal is for our bloggers and authors to be the ‘heroes’ of this network, and this is just one way we feel we can promote them as individuals.
First up this week is Jayvee, who […]

Blog Applications Update

Another week has arrived and we’re looking forward to seeing how the blogs in the network perform now that some of the initial attention we received from the launch subsides. Traffic over the weekend was surprisingly good (for a weekend) and a number of our blogs are getting some decent traffic already.
We’ve had over 100 […]

Closing Out Week 1

We’ve been continuing to tidy things up, lock down the blogs and generally improve the way things are going here at b5. Practically speaking, a few improvements have been made:
- We gave our authors 2 new tools (a cleaner uploading one, and a new stats package so they can see per-blog stats on their own).
- […]

The End of Day 1

Wow…
I’m floored. I really am. Day 1 of b5 was just insane. Some of the reasons it was insane are good (over 100 applications, at least as many links, hundreds of comments and lots of smiles all around the virtual b5 offices), and some of the reasons were harder (getting flack, missing the mark on […]
